What really makes Kenya and especially Watamu really special is the reef that sits approximately ½km off the beach which protects the whole bay giving you a flat water riding experience. When the summer swells kick in you get fantastic waves (2-3m). To top it all off there are a number of large sandbars that are ideal to learn to kitesurf from as well as creating that butter smooth flat water that freestyle kitesurfers are always seeking
THE SEASON
The Kaskhazi (November – April): During this season we have warm winds coming from the N-NE that range from 18-25 knts. The standard chosen kite sizes would be a 9m and a 12m differing of course depending on rider weight, and immediate forecast which can be discussed with Dean or Amer to tailor it specially to you to have the best experience.
THE LOCATION
The beach in front of our hotel has been nominated among the best beaches of Africa and of the World.
The Beach is a long stretch of pristine white coral sand. During low tide a sand bank appears from the sparkling turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, giving everyone the opportunity to walk through the water and soak in one of the natural crystal pools the tide leaves behind.
This adrenaline filled trip is suitable for all levels of kiteboarders. From those with no experience at all, right through to those learning their first jumps and even the most advanced freestyle maneuvers, complete beginners full courses and even advanced coaching from freestyle champion Jacopo Cantini can be provided. Any desired equipment is also available for rent.
